The origins of the brand
These shoes boast one hundred years of history. They preserve each and every one of the secrets that have been passed on to successive generations: the virtuoso sewing technique, the comfortable geometry of the last, the pure classicism of the designs, the leather, the dyes, the textures, the precision and the obsession with perfection.
The company dates back to the year 1913, when ANDRÉS SENDRA began producing footwear from his small factory in Almansa, Spain, along with his brother and a small number of skilled craftsmen. At that time, the Goodyear welt process that they used to make robust boots as well as dress shoes soon brought the footwear a notable reputation.
Two generations later, having established absolute confidence in the family’s way of working, Sendra has achieved international recognition and some of the most emblematic national and global fashion brands are working in collaboration with the Spanish factory.
Now Javier Sendra, his grandson and CEO of the company, is paying homage to the founder of the company by launching the ANDRÉS SENDRA brand. With this brand he is offering the public all the wisdom and classic shoe design that his grandfather was able to impart down through the generations.
Where is ANDRÉS SENDRA made?
All the ANDRÉS SENDRA footwear is produced in Spain; more precisely in Almansa (Albacete).
ANDRÉS SENDRA was originally from Valencia but moved to Almansa and some years later, in 1913, set up his own business in the form of a small shoe factory. From that time on, the factory has continued to grow and has had to relocate in order to meet its commercial requirements. However, it still remains utterly loyal to the town of Almansa and to its traditional approach.
The philosophy of ANDRÉS SENDRA
We have more than 100 years’ experience of making shoes using the Goodyear welt technique, and our philosophy is to continue to maintain the highest standards of quality. In this we are following closely in the footsteps of previous generations.
We work with premium quality leather. We use French calf leather, mainly from the tanneries of Puy and Annonay, as well as English leather from Charles F. Stead. The leather that we use for the soles comes from various Italian cities.
The manufacturing process for each pair of shoes involves a large number of craftsmen. This means that all our footwear is unique and unrepeatable but also susceptible to the subtle differences associated with artisan work.
Footwear is our world and our passion: at ANDRÉS SENDRA the factory is the heart and soul of all our designs and that is where we have our showroom and our creative centre.
